A B O U T
I’m Kayleigh, a calligrapher and lettering artist based in Folkestone, Kent, where I’ve lived all my life. Beyond my love for lettering, I’m a proud mum of two wonderful children. Autism holds a special place in our family’s hearts and was ultimately, the driving force behind my decision to leave my retail job of 18 years. In 2023, I began to focus on my small business full time so that in years to come, I can work around the people who need me most. Lettered by Kayleigh brings me equal parts joy and flexibility, allowing me to do something that fills my cup, on my own terms, at times that suit my family rather than a big corporate company.
W H E R E I T A L L B E G A N
Back in 2021, during the second lockdown, I hand drew a personalised floral sign for my daughter, simply to pass the time. My friend was so impressed that she suggested I start selling them. I laughed and told her not to be so ridiculous. But, after sharing my creation with a few others, they wanted one too, either for themselves or as a gift for someone special. I soon began offering paper-based personalised gifts and keepsakes under the name D.oodleoodle (don’t ask, I can’t explain!) which was thankfully soon replaced by Kayleigh’s Keepsakes.
That not-so-ridiculous idea has since grown into something much bigger, leading to another - final - name change: Lettered By Kayleigh. This name better reflects the full range of services I now offer, all centred around my love of beautiful letters, including bespoke business signage and artwork, wedding stationery, creative workshops, and of course… Personalised gifts and keepsakes!
